The experience of repressed sadness or grief about the self. We have identified with a message about the self that is not true or with a period of misalignment from the heart or true self. The belief that “I am bad,” rather than, “I did something bad,” or “Something bad happened to me.” When identification with the false message is recognized, the sadness can then be allowed to move and the shame can finally be released. Shame is always a lie. We are never broken or bad. We have only ever, for a time, lost our way.
